Stop Everything And Watch Kvelertak's Insane New Video

What happens when black metallers age (note that I didn't say "grow up") without putting a whole lot of thought into how the future might look? Kvelertak's cinematic new video for 1985 offers a rather trippy view, telling the story of a guy whose girlfriend has dumped the shit out of him and which girlfriend's new boyfriend might well have battered the hell out of his face for good measure. Our moody, bruised protagonist finds his old buddies — who aren't exactly killing it, but who seem to be having a hell of a good time nevertheless — and a magical reunion ensues. For like fifteen seconds. The video then hits a sharp left into a dizzying arcade of flashbacks, mayhem, revenge and weird shit in the woods. In all, it's pretty awesome. The song, incidentally, marks a dramatic new direction for the Norwegian black and rollers, seeing the bludgeoning six-piece shift into hookier, more traditional rock stylings that sound appreciably less extreme than past efforts. Looking forward to hearing the whole shooting match. In the meantime, Check out this video, post haste. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g36fWfErL9w
